STRICTLY CONFIDENTIAL
Minutes: 247 – 253
Minutes of the Committee Meeting held on 4 September 2020 via Zoom
Present:
Robbie Barrett (RB)
Sue Barrett (SB)
Gillian Chapple (GAC) Secretary/Treasurer
Jayne Glover (JG)
Alistair Hodgson (AH)
Georgina Hodgson (GH)
247 Zoom Meeting
All agreed that, given the circumstances surrounding the coronavirus pandemic, meeting via Zoom was the only option available to the Committee at present. It was agreed that as there were more than 4 Committee Members on the Zoom call the meeting was quorate.
248 Correspondence with Ventnor Marina
It was noted that there had been extensive correspondence with the Directors of Ventnor Marina regarding some form of compensation for moorers due to them not being able to use the Marina facilities. All this had been to no avail and it was felt that the responses from the Directors had been particularly unhelpful, particularly as CRT had extended people’s licenses. It was agreed that there seemed no point in pursuing this further at present, but that copies of the next set of the Marina’s accounts should be obtained from Companies House when filed to see if the figures in the accounts supported the information that had been given in the correspondence. 249 Social Events 2020
It was noted that although lockdown had been lifted, social distancing is still required and not all the Marina facilities have re-opened. After some discussion, it was agreed that the September Moorers’ Breakfast and Soup and Sparklers should be cancelled. However, it was agreed that the Photo Competition would still be run; it was further agreed that if there were less than 10 entries, it would be cancelled.
250 Public Liability Insurance
GAC advised the meeting that the Association’s Public Liability Insurance was due for renewal in November. It was agreed that as we had no social events planned for the foreseeable future the insurance should be allowed to lapse.
251 Membership Fees 2021
After a short discussion, it was agreed that as all social events for 2020 had been cancelled, the Membership Fees paid in 2020 would cover 2021 as well
252 Newsletter to Members
It was agreed that a Newsletter should be sent out to all Members advising them of the cancellation of the social events for the remainder of 2020 and that no Membership fees would be needed for 2021. In addition, it was agreed that Members should be provided with a summary of the discussions with Ventnor Marina Ltd mooring fees and the closure of the Marina due to coronavirus. Further, it was noted that Steve Chapman was leaving and it was agreed that something should be included in the Newsletter to show our appreciation of his support of the Association during his time as Manager at the Marina. Action: GAC
253 The Way Forward
All agreed that there was nothing that should be done regarding future events until we saw what was happening in connection with the coronavirus pandemic and the restrictions on movement and socialising.
There being no further business the meeting was closed.
