Minutes of the Meeting held on 6 December 2014 at Ventnor Marina

(Following on from the meeting of Moorers in October to discuss the introduction of the Association, it was agreed that a Steering Committee should be set up.)
1 The Steering Committee has been formed. The following individuals have been appointed.
Ken Barnes (Chair) Mo Kennedy(Treasurer) Sylvia Jimminson(Secretary)
2 Copies of the RYA Model Constitution for Berth Holders’ Association were provided by Ken. The Constitution would require a certain amount of “tweaking” before it provided what was required for our own Association. Ken agreed to do this.
3 Ken requested from Castle Marinas, via Lee, a contribution of £120 for the Association to become an affiliated member of RYA. Lee to make enquiries but couldn’t foresee a problem.
4 The Association is to be independent from Castle Marinas, with the expectation of having an extremely good working relationship with them.
5 Gillian has kindly offered to look into setting up our own Website and Domain. The Domain would be registered to the Association at Ventnor’s address.
6 Ventnor Marina Moorers’ Association (VMMA.org.uk) was agreed as being the Web Site name. A link from Castle Marinas to Ventnor is something that Gillian will also be looking at.
7 Costings involved to be discussed at next meeting.
8 VMMA will have a maximum of 2 voting members per mooring with each Member paying a subscription.
9 Social Members of the VMMA will not have a vote and can join at a reduced fee. 10.Membership Fee for full voting Members £5.00.

SOCIAL EVENTS
Ken to devise an “introductory” letter that can be circulated in January to all Moorers (via Lee) advising them of the VMMA and at the same time encouraging them to enter a competition. It was suggested that it would be nice to rename Phase 1 and Phase 2 Marinas. Castle Marina/Lee had also intimated the same. Therefore the competition would be “renaming of Phase 1 and 2 Marinas.
The winner to be announced on Sat. 14th March. The Prize: £25 worth of Diesel to each winner of Phase 1 and Phase 2. Entries to be in by £28th February.
(Lee was consulted and couldn’t foresee a problem with Castle Marina contributing to such a prize)
A FLAVOUR OF OTHER EVENTS for discussion: A Minibus to Crick with a drop off point and a Pick-up point. Away Day BBQ on the canal system
ALSO:- Setting up a directory of useful information that can be added to
Over time i.e. problems Moorer have had with their boats (electrical, mechanical etc.) .Knowledge that could be passed on to assist others.

It was agreed that a Quorum of 4 People will be enough to hold a meeting of the Steering Committee.
