As more than 4 Committee Members had joined the meeting via Zoom, the meeting was declared quorate.

257 Moorers Breakfast – 11 July

Given the recent Government briefing regarding large gatherings, it was agreed that the Moorers Breakfast planned for 11 July could not now safely go ahead and would have to be cancelled. The plan had been for Martin Stubbins to give a demonstration of canal painting – this could not be postponed until the September Moorers Breakfast as Martin was not available then.

After a discussion, Martin agreed to give 2 craft workshops on 11 July as numbers could be restricted to the maximum of 6 people (including Martin) as allowed by the Covid restrictions. There would be one workshop in the morning and one in the afternoon. It was agreed that the event would be free to VMMA Members – any non-Member attending would be asked to cover the cost of the materials.

The Committee thanked Martin for providing the Craft sessions and he left the meeting.

After some further discussion, it was agreed that the Association would make charcoal and firelighters available at both the barbecue stations over the weekend of 10/11 July. It was thought that people might have arranged to come to their boats with a view to starting a trip after attending the now cancelled breakfast and that making barbecue resources available might be appreciated. It was agreed that it would not be practical to try to restrict usage to Members. Gillian Chapple agreed to get the charcoal and firelighters and liaise with the Marina regarding making them available. Action: GAC

258 Public Liability Insurance

It was agreed that Public Liability Insurance should be taken out in time to cover the craft event on 11 July. Gillian Chapple said that she had several calls out for quotes to see if she could get a better premium than that being offered by Zurich, the previous insurers. Action: GAC

259 Marina costs during Covid

The Chairman advised the meeting that she had written to Karen Wray asking for clarification on why the Marina costs had risen during lockdown. The Secretary said she had been keeping an eye on filings at Companies House waiting for the Marina’s accounts to be filed (as agreed at the last Committee meeting) but to date there had been no accounts filed for 2020.

260 Proposed changes to the Constitution

The Secretary had forwarded to the Committee a draft revised constitution, taking into account the points made at the last Committee meeting. The Committee agreed that they were happy with the proposed amendments. Robbie Barrett suggested that the wording in the Constitution should be amended to reflect that the Association now had a ‘Chairwoman’ rather than a ‘Chairman’. After a short discussion, it was agreed that rather than alter all the terms to female and then have to alter them back if a male Chairman was elected, a provision saying that male implied female and vice versa should be added. 261 Date of Special General Meeting

As the July Moorers Breakfast has been cancelled, it was agreed that the Special General Meeting planned for that weekend would be rescheduled to the weekend of the September Moorers’ Breakfast.

There being no further business, the Chairman then closed the meeting.
