We are planning a special event on 21st September. One of the VMMA members Dave Jesse will be giving a talk entitled “Diesel or Electric Boats – Where does the Energy Go?”. Some of the committee have heard a similar talk from Dave earlier in the year and found it very interesting and Dave to be an engaging and educating speaker. Dave is a professional engineer who will explain, in layman’s terms, how energy from diesel fuel or the sun is converted into movement down the canal. Why does only 10% of the energy propel the boat? How does the state of a canal affect cruising distances? Why are electric boats slower than diesel boats? To find answers to these questions and more, attend his talk at Electrika 2024 on 4th May (oops – you missed it!) or at VMMA on 22nd September.
Attendance numbers are limited please email secretary@vmma.org.uk to secure your place with the names of the people who are attending / your boat name. This will be on a first come first served basis.
The Talk is FREE for VMMA Members & £3 for non-Members (payable on the night).
Following the talk we will have a DIY barbeque – an opportunity to meet with fellow moorers. Please bring your own food and drink and we will set up the barbeques. Please let us know if you want to attend so we can cater for the number of people coming email secretary@vmma.org.uk with the names of the people attending. This is a free event.
